Bathroom Fight

To me, nothing says I love you like cleaning your boyfriend's dirty, nasty, stinky bathroom. Sam found me hunched over the tub scrubbing furiosly a la Joan Crawford. The smell of bleach waffed throught his entire apartment. What can I say? Nothing smells cleaner than bleach. If it can kill plants, it can kill germs!

"What are you doing?" he asked.
"Cleaning." I retorted. "You can literally write on the soap scum. See?"
I pointed at the spot where I wrote 'Clean Me.'
"Ok." Sam replied curtly.

I knew he was upset. Had I stepped over the line? Did I do the wrong thing by finally taking action? I hinted to him several times over about the bathroom being 'a little skanky'.

He was silent through dinner. We had the classical music playing in the background. I fiddled with the chicken. I didn't have much of an appetite. He cleared the plates and I retreated to the bedroom where I worked on papers for school. A few hours later, the chill was still in the air and he tok off his clothes and jumped into bed. I laid down beside him and he turned on the TV. Breakfast at Tiffany's was playing.
"I love this movie." I said.

He only grunted.
"Listen, I'm sorry if I upset you. It's just that I don't like dirty bathrooms and I have like an OCD on cleanliness. I'm a neatfreak. You know that."

I gave him the sad puppy dog eyes.
"I'm sorry too. It's just that I was embarassed," he said.

I snuggled up next to him and put my head on his shoulders. He took my hand and intertwined our fingers. Audrey Hepburn sang.

"I love you baby."
"I love you too."

I looked into his eyes and kissed him. He spooned me.
To Sam, Nothing says I love you like spooning.

Happy Valentines Day everyone and a wonderful S.A.D to the rest !

You thought I was joking

This is what my old bathroom looked like:

Now here it is with some tweaking and the Tiffany Blue:

The knick knacks and prints on the walls came from bed bath and beyond, homegoods, and kirkland home. HomeGoods is actually a secret of mine. They have really nice sheets and I mean NICE. Like 600 thread count nice for half the price. It all depends on timing though.

I think it looks way better than the old bathroom. Can't believe I waited this long to do this. Next to go is the vanity and the mirror. I'll do those when my budget allows. I shouldn't have bought Mom the Cavalli dress. I'm getting a new shower curtain also. That rose pink white thingy is just not cutting it. Hopefully, my Tita likes it. She's coming for a visit the first week of August.
So...should I drop out of college and enroll at Parsons??? LOL.

Thanks to all of you who come to read this "blog" and merci tres tres beaucoup to those who actually leave a comment.

I'll leave y'all with a quote inscribed on one of those ceramic plaques that people hang on their walls. I didn't buy one. It said:
"Life is measured not by the number of breaths, but the number of moments that take our breath away" or something like that. Thought it was interesting. Anywho, time for a shower. Ciao!

Transform!

For the longest time, I have been plotting to redo my bathroom from it's fugly state. The previous owners put up pink seashell wallpaper which had started to turn yellow. Furthermore, the wall paper edges started to peel. It felt like I was in that short story "The Yellow Wallpaper". On Saturday night, out of frustration due to work and my non-existent love life, I started ripping the wallpaper off the walls like a stripper on crack. I became a madman. Before I knew it, the walls were bare and with the help of solvents it was clear.

Then came the hard part.
What color to choose...

At first I wanted to stencil in interlocking C's sort of like an homage to Chanel or do an LV on the walls. But I thought that it would be a bit much. Suddenly an idea hit me. I rummaged through my closet and found an Hermes paperbag and a Tiffany&co. bag. I decided to go with the same color that Tiffany's uses on their bags and boxes. I had the people at Home Depot match the color. Sooo now my bathroom walls are Tiffany Blue.

Now that's an homage.
